ruralflyingdoc is published by Dr. Gerry Considine (Twitter: @ruralflyingdoc) who is currently working as a rural GP on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. In 2014, Gerry is working with his fiancee Dr. Mel Clothier (GreenGP, Twitter: @drmelclothier) between three rural practices utilising video conference technology and lots of driving/flying.
He also has an interest in GP policy and reform, music and aviation. To this end, Gerry is involved in General Practice Registrars Association (GPRA), plays in a two-piece blues rock band called Stomp The Orange and has gained both a Recreational Pilot Certificate and Private Pilot Licence. If you look up above the skies on the EP, you might see his little white plane buzzing around from town to town. Gerry is passionate about rural General Practice and is keen to work in it and advocate for it on a national level in the future.
The purpose of this site is to be a repository of opinion pieces, blogs, humorous asides and links. All related to GP advocacy, e-health, local music, rural GP work and learning, and aviation…enjoy!
